To get more traffic you should try out article marketing. I’m doing it successfully for three of my sites… On those sites more than 90% of my traffic comes from click throughs from my articles.

To get the most out of your SEO efforts, you should try possible varying your anchor text titles on internal links. If your targeted phrase is “buy phones” and you make the kind of variations like “buy phones”, “buy phones here”, “buy new phones”, then it will still target your main phrase and it will also show Google that it’s not auto-linked.

It probably depends upon your niches, audiences and goals (building authority vs. readership vs. keyword carpet bombing). I suspect searching article directories for ideas will get old quickly. Most of the folks who submit articles to the directories tend not use much creativity to uncover topical areas.

Should you open one big site on many topics or open many small niche sites, each having a topic of it’s own? I personally prefer opening many sites (all optimized for their own unique set of keywords) as opposed to one site. The main reason being “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”.

When building websites, there are two types of navigation you need to keep in mind. Navigation for humans and navigation for search engines. In order to keep your site both human and search engine friendly, all websites should have both an HTML sitemap as well as an XML sitemap.
