How to properly market your articles
General Marketing, Ideas, SEO August 27th, 2008You CAN make money and get link juice from article marketing, however there are tons of filters and ezinearticles.com is thick with approvals - 95% of their content is nothing more than sneaky endorsements from sneaky affiliates like you and I. However, there is definitely a formula for this and it’s not that hard to implement if you can put together good articles and understand how to get your links in there where people eagerly click your calls to action!
- GET A DOMAIN. You can link to top level domains easily - DON’T BE CHEAP - even a .info with good keywords is $2.99. Now you can plug your domain in A LOT more places that usually would not allow affiliate marketing, I mean good articles.
- When you write your articles, always play on the human senses, emotions, desires, anxieties and write in a ‘one to one’. So “I know you used to have a better body before you got overweight”…. Identify problems and try not to ’sell’ at ALL when article marketing - 90% of people reading articles/reviews/etc. are researching the product/solution, if you can convince them YOU are the best authority on this topic thus far, they will eat up your words and clicks.
- You really don’t NEED to put your clicks above the fold mate, in fact it’s almost better you don’t - formula is to build awareness/anticipation - to QUICK benefits/features lander/.com (or redirect) - to merchant. If you are doing an article about fatloss4idiots - near the end of your article you mention “Might be an ugly site but this fatloss program is currently making waves on the inter….” << Softselling and build up are your best options for good CTR at ezinearticles (and other directory’s).
- Your resource box doesn’t have to be a resource box. You can actually create a continuity so it flows with your read. So option a) you finish your article, have a link in there that is non intrusive and in your resource box you go “You’ll love the ease of use and results found by thousands at www.yoursite.com. or b) You don’t finish your article, but have a sentence literally fall halfway between the main body and your resource box “When i started this diet I was more than skeptical that (body end)
(resource box) I would see any results - today, I think back and….. . .. so .. . . thank you so much wxw.yoursite.com.
*Article marketers make a killing over time and good overlap.
*Writing 1 article a day can easily turn into a great lil’ income stream and or more link juice to your ’stuff’.
*Any great writer should be able to mine great keywords, create a domain lander, and monetize their skills at ezine.
*If an article goes berserk - expect 1000’s of amazing targeted uniques for a while.
*If many articles get featured (good writers get featured even with aff links/domains), expect a long term sales channel. A few of my aff’s have written 50+ articles and make sales on them from last year still - though they do tail off sometimes within a week/less of getting featured as well…
I don’t know why I’m babbling so much about ezinearticles when really - if you’re an amazing writer you should be writing killer sales copy for people or dumping articles into your own sites - then a few to ezinearticles/other places for linkjuice - good writers often transform into amazing earners once they get their hands on a great lander and good converting program. I use to love article marketing, now outsource it and let affiliates make them or rewrite templates etc. so outsourcing is also very viable. I wouldn’t discredit this and squid/blog/YT/any bum marketing tact from any of your campaigns, just remember to softsell + have a domain.

Nice breakdown on article marketing. I like how you call it as you see it, “sneaky endorsements from sneaky affiliates like you and I”. Unfortunately, you are pretty much right on. Anyway, just wanted to say great tips there. Thanks.
