Best search engine keyword position tracking tool
SEO August 3rd, 2008Google stopped issuing their API key a while ago… so for those that missed the boat and can’t use GoogleRankings.com (or others that use the API key) to check your keyword positions, I will introduce some other options for you here:
- SeoBook’s Rank Checker FireFox plugin is pretty cool. It suffers from the same problem as all checkers, though, in that it looks at the first 100 results, so it includes a lot of “double listings.” If you just want to track movement/momentum then it does a great job. It has an easy export to CSV, too.
- Some also use Advanced Web Rankings. It costs quite a bit a year, couple of hundred dollars, but seems to work ok, for the most part.
- WebCEO is pretty good as well, I wouldn’t really recommend it over the other ones, but I also wouldn’t completely count it out.
Do you guys know any other good tools?

What great resources. Thanks for compiling the list, the links and sharing your reviews.
I think I’ll give “rank checker” a try.

Thanks - have been looking for something like this for a while. Another paid service that seems okay (in demo anyway) is Rank Tracker. Seems to be less expensive than Advanced Web Rankings but Rank Checker seems to do most of what I need.
Great blog by the way.
