How much do you need to edit a stolen article?
Ideas, SEO, Site Management July 8th, 2008If you are copying and re-spinning articles from other sites, or just want to respin your own articles for article submission, you might ask yourself: How much do you need to edit it in order to avoid duplicate content penalties?
The general rule of thumb is 50%. A lot of people throughout the industry agree on this number. Just rewriting the article is probably easier than changing every other word though. It provides flow.
If your writing this for a blog, or newsletter or something of that sort, don’t forget to add your own personal spin. Typically thats the reason someone may read your writings (over someone elses). Sometimes it may have been written before, just remember to put your own personal spin on it. Remember - Original content should be your goal. Use other articles as starting points, then make it your own. If you quote from Wikipedia, then say so… “According to Wikipedia…….”

How much do you need to edit the title to make it look more legit?
I agree with you, for an article aimed at a reader, it is a lot easier to just rewrite in your own style. Only thing I can add is it`s probably not a good idea to mix rewritten and respun articles on the same site, one would devalue the other.
