Those people that think search engine optimization is very complex and time consuming are completely misguided.  People that say this really have no clue what SEO is all about. SEO is not very complicated.  After reading many articles and forum posts regarding SEO, I think it’s safe to say that there’s not really much to it (even the posts on this blog regarding it seem to be a bit repetitive).  I keep saying the same things written over and over again.  So, in my opinion, anything that is so simple and easy (and has a lot of benefits), is definitely not a waste of time.

SEO, one could say, is a part of HTML.  In the initial stages of your sites development, you should always keep the basic principals of SEO in mind.  If, from the beginning, you build you site with these in mind, you will never have any problems and never need to make any major changes in your sites structure.

But then again, some sites are built without even considering SEO.  If your site is one of these, a lot of changes need to be made.  So, if your site was built as one that is not search engine friendly, then it needs to be taken care of.  If your site is one of these… then to you, SEO is definitely not a waste of time.  Check out this article for a start.

Many high rankings sites that I need appear to have done very little optimizing.  But what do all these high ranking sites have in common?  They all have quality, relevant content.  So…  Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to spend your time developing quality content?  Wouldn’t it be better to spend your time optimizing more for human beings and less for machines?

Truth is, if you make good content, people will come and people will link to you.  Always remember, content is king.
