A good Craigslist marketing plan
Ideas April 19th, 2008I hate to share this idea with all my blog readers because I think the plan is too good to let everyone know about it ;) But since I’m too busy at the moment to do anything with the idea, I’ll let you guys try it out and see how it goes. (Post your results in the comments)
Craiglist.com is one of the most popular sites on the internet. It became so popular because it is a free, easy to use classified service. As a marketer, it is important to understand the FREE advertising potential that Craigslist possesses.
To make full use of Craigslist potential, you need to create lots of ads and post them all over the site. Only having one ad will not get you a lot of exposure because it will only be shown to a limited amount of people. Here is my suggestion:
- Write a good, attractive ad that is related to your site, product, or service.
- Put these ads into an article spinner (something that changes around your writing to make it appear different to computer-bots) and create many different ads. The more different ads you “spin” the better.
The reason you need to spin your ads is because Craiglist’s spam patrolling is quite advanced. You will need to get a bunch of ad copies out there to avoid being “caught” and having your ads and accounts deleted. - Create a bunch of Craigslist accounts. These are free and easy to create so it shouldn’t be a big hassle. The reason you need so many accounts is so that if one gets deleted, it won’t be so detrimental to your entire ad campaign. Also, with each account you can post one ad on the same classified page every 48 hours.
- Once you have all your accounts, start posting! There are 22 main cities on the craiglist mainpage, you can start by hitting up each of those places. If you do this method, spin your ad into 66 different ads (22 per day). On the first day, post the first 22 ads. On the 2nd day, post the next 22 ads, and on the 3rd day post your final batch of 22 ads. Once the 4th day comes around, you can go back to posting your day 1 ads again because its been 48 hours.
- Repeat this process over and over!
