Automatically posting on forums
Ideas, SEO April 10th, 2008Posting links on forums is a good way to get visitors to your sites. You can not only get traffic that is extremely targeted, you can also build up back-links to help out your site in search engine rankings. The only problem with posting on forums is the amount of time that it occupies.
But what if there were ways you could automate the forum posting process? Luckily for you, there actually are ways to do this. You could either custom code a program yourself (hire a programmer if you don’t know how to program) or buy a pre-existing program. I hear XRumer is good, but at $450 it might be too expensive for you. Forum Poster is another one worth checking out.
When using an automatic posting software, you need to be a little creative so you won’t get caught and kicked off the forums. You need to think about ways to make your posts not look like spam (even though they kind of are). Perhaps do an introduction post of some sorts and then a week later or so when nobody is suspecting, drop a stealthy link.
There are some downsides to automatic message board posting as well:
- As forum software improves, your software that you paid lots of money for might get outdated and might no longer work.
- Affiliate programs will ban you if they think you methods are too “spammy”.
- Search engines might penalize you if they see your links posted in a way that suggest robots posted them and the links weren’t “natural.”
- Your overall company/site reputation might take a hit.
On the other hand, a method that works even better is higher cheap labor from India, Eastern Europe, or another developing nation to do the work for you. If you have actual humans helping you post your link on forums, it might look a little more natural.

I really am against automated posting software for blogs, forums, and directories.

Thanks PixelHead for your response. I, too, am against automatically posting on forums, blogs, and directories. I think in the end it’ll be more trouble than it’s worth. However, I have hired cheap labor to help alleviate this tedious process and the results have been pleasing.
