10 proven steps to get visitors to your site
Ideas, Link exchanges, SEO, Site Management, Viral Marketing April 2nd, 2008These are all kind of obvious… but people don’t fail in the web business because they don’t know what to do. They fail because they are too lazy or they don’t stick with it.
So here is a step by step guide to get more traffic to any website. FOR FREE!
- Find a niche - You don’t need to be an expect in the field, just pick something your good at. Or know a little more than the average person in.
- Research some keywords - Google’s keyword tool is probably the best. Find the most popular phrases for the niche you chose and start developing your site around them!
- Structure your site smart - Make your site’s URLs search engine friendly and have a simple overall structure on your site. Try to put your keywords in URLs whenever possible. Example - www.yourdomain.com/category/site-content-keywords.html and not www.yourdomain.com/phpscript.php?id=111
- Submit to directories - Put your link in as many places as possible. Directory links are good because they are all one-way-links. You don’t have to link back to them! Search engines place more value on one way links… so put all your focus on getting them!
- Link Exchange - Not really the best way from an SEO standpoint (because one way links are worth more than reciprocal links), but the links still do have a lot of value. Especially when they are coming from related sites! NEVER EVER link exchange wit unrelated sites. This will be viewed as spam and will get you penalized in search engines.
- Article Writing - I don’t really talk about this much on GettingMoreVisitors.com, because I am least familiar with it, but article writing has been proven to develop some good traffic. The idea here is to write articles for “article sites” and put your link there in the article. The hard part with this is you must submit a direct article to each site, otherwise the search engines won’t index them. For this, you can automatically change the articles using an “article spinner.” This is another great method for building one-way-links.
- Submit your article - One you write your article and spin it into many different copies, you must submit to to article directories. Put your link in the “Resource Box” of the article page and not in the body text. If you put the link in the body of your article, there is a high chance that it won’t be accepted by that site. Do this as many times as possible. The more the better!
- Forum and Blog links - I’ve wrote about these methods both here (forums) and here (blogs), so I won’t write too much about it again. Just relize that the idea here is to again start building one-way-links.
- Update your content - You need unique content that can’t be found anywhere else. Update frequently and with quality content. There are many big reasons why updating your site is key!
- Repeat this 10 step process again and again
Hope this helps you get visitors! If you want to continue reading, check out this similar post.
