Meta tags are no longer the most important factor that search engines use when ranking websites, however they still cannot be ignored. Search engines are always changing their algorithms for ranking sites. Sometimes they place a large importance on meta tags and sometimes they don’t. So if you are debating whether or not to include meta tags on your page, just do it. They cannot hurt you and can only help. Currently, it seems like Yahoo and MSN value the meta tags more so than Google.

No patience
Getting visitors to your website is an extremely long process. It can take months or even years before you see any good traffic from search engines. It also takes a very long time to get your visitors to start bookmarking your site or telling their friends about your site. When starting a website, be prepared for the long haul. Otherwise, you might as well not even start because you will only be disappointed.

Google hates it when you copy an article from another site and then copy it directly on to yours. As a matter of fact, if you write original content and then someone steals it from you, YOU will get penalized. So basically, don’t steal others content. It will hurt you and them.

I found a good blog post here. That guy gives a great list of some very creative ways to get links to your site and the best part is, 90% of the ideas are free. You should always be thinking about ways for your visitors to link to you. Buying links is expensive and trading links is troublesome and tiring. So why not get them for free with no effort?
