Every time there is a big news story: September 11, Hurricane Katrina, Southeast Asian Tsunami, etc. Anything like this that is unexpected, you need to take advantage of it. Current events definitely get visitors. Breaking news stories all have one thing in common: They are all untapped markets with HUGE potential. Whenever something happens, Google is desperately searching for information to display. But how do YOU get some of these visitors?

Create a new site. Buy a domain and put up pictures, articles, a message board, polls… anything you can think of that will give you content. Because the news story is hot on the presses right now, you will get a lot of links to your site naturally.

Blog about it. If you have a blog, blog about it… put a lot of information and keywords in your blog post in order to drive search engines robots to spider you.

Buy up Ads. If you want to pay money for ads… keywords related to the news story will definitely be cheap on Google Adwords. Buy up some of these and direct them to your page. If you don’t have a related page… create one.
